Great traction and discovery by our community.

I always believe anything done - voluntary initiative- for good of others evolve into a divine opportunity, when backed by true thought leadership and honesty of purpose. That is the evolving strength of this Nasscom EMERGE COMMUNITY.

Here is a chance to prove ourselves, to internal product team, management team and leadership in each Indian IT SME- HOW GOOD ARE WE??

All shortightedness will get exposed as teams/cos lagging will be forced to search for DIFFERENTIATORS. This is at least an opportunity to scrutinize and benchmark ourselves. BUSINESS RELEVANCE AND YIELD WISE AS WELL AS TECHNOLOGY RELAVANCE FOR NEXT 4-5 YEARS OF SUSTAINABILITY. No more talking in air to please ourselves, our dreams etc.

Eventually we must deliver Business Differentiators with scalability, with or without innovation. For such SME, world will knock at their doors. That is the power created by this community. What else!

On the other hand it is a great opportunity for IT SMEs, internal teams/people, thinkers, leaders to  showcase what they have been dreaming of, designed and developed, with pilot or commercial releases, with minimum few LIVE Clients/User groups ...

Both sections get an opportunity to present their case ( with limitless introspection on how they have spent time and efforts). Self introspection and internal audit is the firts step for any aspiring co.

IT SMEs have a challenge to start and survive on their own. Every crisis in the market is an opportunity for fast movers while adding vulnerability to the slow movers. Either side of the road we are in, opens an opportunity to those who wish to take advantage of.

All the best to all applicants. Getting shortlisted itself is a recognition of strength of the SME cos.

Jai HO to to the initiators of this opportunity..

Great begining for a Great new Year..

Avinash,

Can we ie. other members who're interested participate or listen in ?

Would like to see what gets presented ?

Best regards

Ravi.

Disclosure : Have asked a small company that I'm an angel investor in to turn in their entry.

Dear Ravi,

I'm sorry i don't think we will be able to allow participants for this meeting. This would be a closed meeting where only the respective company will get to present to the tech board of the bank.

Regards,

Avinash

I did face few questions as below, with my responses

1. Why so little time given to the community to respond

my answer- either you have a compelling proposition or not. It is no time to invent one, if your co does not have one.

2. Why not enough publicity given to this opportunity

my answer - community is moving fast enough. catch up if you can. Regular readers and sharing partcipants would not have missed this piece.

3. Why not let us know the co name and people

my answer - opportunity created by Emerge activists for sake of proving that Made in India offerings are no less. Use opportunities provided by Nasscom in verious events happening whole of the year. It is good that co interested in evaluation wants to retain peace.

Better luck next time.....

What kinds of product are they interested in looking at? Any specific area of focus?

That is IT.

What a INNOVATION of the comunity.

I truly appreciate this initiative from Nasscom not just because we were one of the selected vendors but because it shows that the think tanks of even large companies are looking to SME's for innovation. The selection process was from the bank themselves and so it should have been rigorous.

We have long been telling our CIO's that we SME's/ Emerge should be given a level playing field.

Could this become a recurring event where CIO's of corporates in India (and internationally) with genuine buying intentions for their portfolio use this forum to get their shortlist? The current bank was looking for products from their perspective and am sure that if another corporate was doing so it would choose another set of vendors

George,

Congrats on your selection. You know what I mean! Wink

Suresh

George, Suresh, Raja, Thank you for the kind words. I know this has been a great initiative and we will continue to work on many such exclusive sessions where we can offer value to the emerging & start-up companies.

We need to work closely with customers(the Buyer Community) who are willing to look at companies. Hope the EMERGE Community can help in finding more.

Thank you again.

Regards,

Avinash

To all selected companies:

Congratulations! Wish you all the best for a great success!

Avinash, great start! Do you plan to replicate this with Indian cos esp PSUs and Govt (state and central) whose ironclad RFP driven buying may have weeded out innovative SME solutions whose size, turnover don't meet the norms.

Edited: January 25, 2010 05:50PM

Vinaya, Thank you. It's a great thought. We could try this out but going by the past experience it is quite difficult to get them to look at Innovative solutions from SMEs. If there is someone who is keen to look at product/solutions from SMEs...we would be happy to facilitate.

Thanks.

Avinash

PSUs and state bodies can not opt for any offerings unless they go through public verifiable bidding process. No where in the world. That is fair and proper also. That segment may be left open to bigger brothers.

Therefore it is worth to ignore that segement and focus on private co buyers- large cos or medium cos or small ventures where you can access top decion makers freely.
