As part of the NASSCOM Friday's 2.0 sessions, under the aegis of the NASSCOM EMERGE Forum, the 52nd edition, we are pleased to invite you for an exclusive session with Mr. Subroto Bagchi, Gardener, MindTree Ltd.

The word Professional has many connotations. Instantaneously it conjures up images of nattily dressed doctors, engineers, MBAs and mostly of people who are self employed, having the ability to earn their livelihood through practise of their chosen craft. As succinctly put by Mr Subroto Bagchi in his new book, the two rare qualities that a professional displays, are the ability to work unsupervised and the ability to certify the completion of one's work. He does not need a boss who writes his appraisal, giving him constructive feedback for continuous improvement. In most work environments, people who produce anything of economic value usually need supervision. A person who needs supervision is no professional. He is an amateur, maybe even an apprentice.

This is a great opportunity for us to listen to some of his ideas as he talks about his new book and also related topics involving the present business environment.

Profile

Subroto Bagchi is Vice Chairman and Co-founder of MindTree Ltd. Till 2008, Subroto was its Chief Operating Officer, a role he stepped down from to become its Gardener. His work involves co-innovating with MindTree's customers, tending the top 100 minds in the organization and serving its fifty communities of practice. He is also Chairman of MindTree's Innovation Council. His earlier books, The High-Performance Entrepreneur (Penguin Portfolio, 2006) and Go Kiss the World (Penguin Portfolio, 2008) were best-sellers and received critical acclaim.

Subroto is married to writer Susmita Bagchi and they have two daughters, Neha and Niti.
