Lakshman,
So before I express what "Made in India" makes me feel, I would like to state, I ws LIVE blogging the 8th International Software Testing conference By QAI, at Bangalore.
The first speaker who was the founder of a Testing company in France, remarked the world today knows that "You have no other option than India" to offshore your testing services.
In the same context, when I hear "Made in India" I feel a comfort level that the producers of the product are approachable. Though I would not say quality as a big aspect that rings a bell but definitely a thought that yes the product adheres to proper standards.
Why do I feel the way I feel?
Well, its the Indian connection (on an emotional note) and then the fact that producers they understand that the buying behavior of the Indian consumer is more on the emotional side, thus any product that tehy develop would have to be sold that way. And for the product to be sold that way, it has to establish a connect with the consumer, which would happen only if the product has that feature. Hence the though that when I'm flying in an aircraft and I know that miles of wire are probably running high quality software codes and signals, parts of which are tested on the Indian shore, I know I'm in safe hands.
Best,
Paritosh
